project: Bishop Lynch High School Cafe
location: Dallas, Texas
architect: Page Southerland Page
The renovation and additions to Bishop Lynch High School included a renovated cafeteria designed in a modern open "loft" style feel, leaving all structure,
heating and air-conditioning ducts, and concrete and brick surfaces exposed to the naked eye. The modern feel of the cafe was quite welcomed by the student
body, but with such extensive hard surfaces, the room would quickly become too loud and reverberant with even just a few people present. Encore Design Group
provides acoustical analysis of the room and made recommendations to the architect to reduce the loudness and reverberation of the room through the use of
various acoustical treatments such as fiberglass baffles hidden from view and some wall panels.
